Youth Ministry

The Mission of our youth group is...

For our youth to know the Christ and make Him known by

Giving service, Reaching out, Offering Worship, Walking in Truth, Enjoying Fellowship.

Our desire is for everything the youth do at First Presbyterian to have Godly purpose. Each part of the youth ministry is geared to accomplish at least one part of the acronym. This way the church's youth ministry can be the place to G.R.O.W.E. for youth as they mature through middle/high school and in their understanding of our God, Jesus.

Below are the ways to be involved in the youth ministry for those in 5th through 12th grade. Also check out and follow our Instagram at fpcbrewton_youth.

NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus, most activities have been suspended or adjusted. We do currently have the Isolation Game in progress as well as a study of the book of Revelation. Also check out the Weekly Wednesday videos here and feel free to contact the youth director.

  • PIZza and a movie!

It's been a while but it's time to come back inside the church! That's right, this Tuesday at 5pm we will be showing a movie in the youth room! There will also be pizza! There is just one catch: in order to keep social distancing we have to know who all is coming and be able to spread out while we watch the movie. So if you want to go then tell the youth director ASAP and get your name on the list. 256-694-0974.

  • Isolation game

As long as the pandemic is keeping everyone isolated, we will have ongoing rounds of the Isolation Game. There will be a new round every week (sometimes twice a week) so check back here, Instagram, or Facebook every couple of days in order to stay up to date on what the current contest is. The winner of each round will be awarded 5 points (3 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd). At the end of this pandemic, the individual with the most points will win a choice between 3 prizes:
    1. Free meal with us at a restaurant of your choice in Brewton (maybe even outside of Brewton, depending).

    2. Two hours of videos games at my house (selection of Sega, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360)

    3. Mystery Surprise. It's a surprise.

  • revelation: we're in the end times

We study together the book of Revelation Mondays and Thursdays at 2pm. We currently do this outside and while practicing social distancing. Text, call, or email the youth director if you want to join. If you are bored sitting at home this Coronavirus season (or even if you aren't) then take some time to learn about this often misunderstood book and how it applies to us today.

  • youth group wednesdays

Join us on Wednesday nights at 5:15 for dinner followed by youth group at 5:50. After some crazy games we sit down for a study of Genesis, the book of beginnings, and then have time for discussion and questions. The Bible is one united story and Genesis is its first book. Therefore, understanding of this book is critical to better understand the rest of the Bible. Here are the next three lessons once we begin meeting again.

Genesis 6:9-9:29....The flood and our salvation

          Genesis 10:1-11:9...Our glory or God's

Genesis 11:10-26...God's people and His promises

  • Sunday School

The Bible is the best book, but it's not always the easiest to understand. In Sunday school, we are taking a look at each book of the Bible and getting a better handle on how to understand why it is where it is, what that means, and how to read it. Here are the next four lessons once we meet again.

          Prophets: The Twelve p. 1

(Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah)

         Prophets: The Twelve p. 2

(Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi)

         Writings: Psalms

Writings: Job, Proverbs, Ruth, Song of Songs

  • Spaghetti lunch

An Italian classic is being planned for a Wednesday dinner as a way to fund-raise for the youths' RUSH Summer Conference. As a youth, even if you aren't going to the conference, come help serve and assist your fellow youth in this fund-raiser. If you are not a youth then we'd greatly appreciate your support by ordering dinner. The date will be sometime in June and will be posted here on June 3rd.

  • RUSH summer conference

We are headed to RUSH Summer Conference July 6th-10th! It's a time to worship God with other youth from around the country and learn more about Him. Youth from Perimeter Church in Atlanta lead the entire event (with preparation and training by their adult church leaders). If you are interested then just talk to the youth director, JML.
