WAYS TO SERVE

Church is about more than just showing up one morning a week and finding a place where you feel cared for (but those are certainly important parts of the church). Ultimately God is the one who meets our needs, but He often chooses to do that through His people, the church body.
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." - 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
We are all given abilities by God for the purpose of building up the church. Below are several ways that First Presbyterian could use those gifts. If you have other abilities feel free to let us know to see if there is a way you can serve here with them.

  • Hurricane help

God desires for His people to help one another so one way we will be doing this is assisting a fellow church in Pensacola. We will be meeting at our church at 7:30am Saturday October 3rd (or in Pensacola at 9am). This neighbor church needs help clearing trees, limbs, etc. from the church area. Contact our church for more info.

  • Operation christmas child

God desires for His people to look after the poor. One way we can help in this regard is by donating specific supplies (contact the church for details) by November 1st for the youth and kids to pack up for Operation Christmas Child on Wednesday November 11th. Packages, including needed essentials as well as Christmas gifts, are sent to children in 3rd world countries, who are then given the gospel as well.

  • Ladies monthly ministry

Each month, different women take turns in helping coordinate meals (as well as other opportunities) for those in need within the congregation. Contact Gloria at the church office for more information.

  • children's ministry

We are looking for more help in the nursery as well as children's church and Wednesday night activities. It is important to us to always have two volunteers with the kids at any activity.
At the moment we have one Sunday school for all the kids up until they move to youth group and would love to split that into two age groups if we have enough volunteers.
*Due to the virus, children's activities other than Sunday school are on hold, but if you are interested in helping please let us know and we can get you plugged in as soon as activities resume.

  • Greenhouse (Youth ministry)

We are always looking for more adults to be involved in our youth group during our various activities.
Right now we have a Wednesday night event 6:00-7:30. If you would like to be involved with dinner preparation/clean-up or spending time with the kids, let us know!
